De Cola's Plumbing & Heating

My condo tenant informed me that the hot water heater leaked and died... Rich at DeCola's was recommended by the condo property management company. Rich responded immediately, scheduled for later the same day. When I ended up stuck on the parkway behind a bad accident, Rich was able to contact property management (they know him) to gain access to the basement room in the secured building where all the water heaters are. When I arrived, technician Nick (who has been with the company for 19 years) was there already having removed the old and began installing the new hot water heater. He was polite, efficient, competent, and cleaned up thoroughly. I did verify BBB profile (A+) and plumbing licenses before calling, after having seen a scathing Google review from an apparent troll. I don't leave many reviews, but based on the excellent service I received, it was the right thing to do. I will be having some other work done at my house and will update my review if anything changes.

DeCola's Plumbing is amazing. I had another company diagnose a drainage issue that flooded our basement. That company used high pressure sales and placed an absurd price on the fix ($5000). Then I called Rich DeCola. He sent Nick, one of their senior people, immediately. Within minutes it became clear that the other company completely was either incompetent or had lied. Nick fixed exactly the problem they said they would fix for one tenth of the price. I trust them and really appreciate how responsive they have been.

I called last night after 5:00pm and left a message. Rich called back within 15 minutes. He sent a plumber out and he was here at 8:30 the next morning. Karl was very nice and extremely helpful and also gave me useful information going forward. I’m very pleased with this company and definitely will continue to do business with them. We replaced our counter tops and sink in the kitchen and used this company to do the plumbing for it. They sent out an apprentice or something - not the salesman person that came out and gave the estimate. After they completed their "work" they left immediately and I discovered the sink was leaking in the cabinet all the way to the cellar. They sent the same guy back the next day to "fix" it but it continued to leak. When I called again they told me it would cost me $175 just to come over and park in my driveway and I would be better off trying to "tighten it myself." The leak continued for several months and destroyed the bottom of my cabinet. I finally called a different plumber and paid $175 to fix the poor work DeCola's did and also replace the innards of a difficultly placed toilet and replace an outdoor Silcock. The new plumber explained the kitchen sink was leaking because Decola's cut the pipe from the new sink drain off too short so it wasn't inserted into the drain pipe below it, so tightening it wouldn't do a thing for the situation. The gasket was also incorrectly placed. Poor workmanship. Poor work ethic. Poor customer service. Do your best to avoid this place that obviously doesn't care about you or their work.

A 93 year old steam pipe sprung a leak. Rusty water was spraying from the pipe whenever the furnace was running. Rich DeCola fit me in ASAP. The repair was quick, efficient, reasonably priced, and just in time before it got extremely cold. I highly recommend DeCola's plumbing.

BEWARE -- DANGEROUS BUSINESS PRACTICES I just recently reported this company to the Better Business Bureau, along with their the two 'servicemen' who work at the DeCola's company (there is a reason why they only have two servicemen). They are recklessly operating, not only without an active plumbing license, but they perform HVAC services despite the fact that their two 'plumbing technicians' are ill-qualified to perform plumbing services let alone anything more than what an apprentice could handle BUT neither of their these two employees have EVER received any proper formal training as required for HVAC service and neithe or the two individuals (Nick or Chris) currently or have ever had the necessary training or licenses to do so legally. The owner of the company also does not have a plumbing or HVAC license and does not live in the state of Connecticut either (Florida resident, however he is not licensed in Florida either). Please be e that the owner of this company is under investigation for fraud into states. This is the first negative review I have ever written in my life. I do so now, however, because what this company has been doing for the past decade is unethical -- particularly in targeting those with a low income which I have witnessed firsthand over several years. Offering services and performing them without a wise sense someone will eventually pay the price and pay with their lives. I do not want that on my conscience. There is a reason why formal education and licensure by the state -- something which is required in any state nationwide -- is required to offer HVAC services and fool around with gas lines and the 'work'' this company does and is performing illegally in this area is proliferating throughout the state of CT. Someone will get killed and perpetuating such negligence knowingly is morally reprehensible.
